Chapter Quotations
Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. Thomas Jefferson We have talked long enough in this country about equal rights. It is time now to write the next chapter - and to write it in the books of law. Lyndon B. Johnson It seems to me that, in every culture, I come across a chapter headed "Wisdom." And then I know exactly what is going to follow: "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity." Ludwig Wittgenstein When one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language. John Donne The old fun thing is when somebody typed up the first chapter of War and Peace. And then made a precis of the rest of it and sent it out and only one publisher recognized it. Jim Harrison When people start writing there is this idea that you have to get everything right first time, every sentence has to be perfect, every paragraph has to be perfect, every chapter has to be perfect, but what you're doing is not any kind of public show, until you're ready for it. Irvine Welsh You will, I am sure, agree with me that... if page 534 only finds us in the second chapter, the length of the first one must have been really intolerable. Arthur Conan Doyle This is an exciting time. A new chapter in our history. John Barth Usually, when people get to the end of a chapter, they close the book and go to sleep. I deliberately write a book so when the reader gets to the end of the chapter, he or she must turn one more page. Sidney Sheldon We kinda look at this as the second or third chapter of our lives. After college, most people figure out what they want to do with their lives. But we already know what we want to do in the future and that is to continue to further our business goals.
